benign neglect of objects around us leaves traces we generally discard with annoyance or guilt. eager to replace or to fix, to restore to what was there that we loved at first sight and promised to cherish. a fascination with the broken, condemned and left materials in nature and industry can be found throughout my work. trees, metals, broken china, watermarks are woven into pieces that capture the beauty, depth and texture of the pieces left behind. this new series places the remnants of rusty flakes of steel from a much loved table and chair set into their own ethereal landscapes that evoke the neurons that move us through our world, the urban or mountain vistas, and the majestic trees that adorn the forests from wales to washington state. each celebrates and
preserves the myriad colours left behind.
